An Open Letter to New Yorkers:

As a collective of New Yorkers working across the full spectrum of organized sports and athletics, we are connected to the very fabric of the five boroughs. Sports do not just contribute to our economy and create jobs, they are also a part of our city, contributing to our unique vibrancy and our shared connections and history. This is deeper than Yankee Stadium, Madison Square Garden, or Citi Field: it is felt at blacktop courts in the Bronx, soccer fields in Red Hook, and everywhere in between.

It is this shared love and appreciation for the culture that unites us, even though our individual jobs and responsibilities may be different. We have all felt the brutal impact of the pandemic firsthand, seeing the various ways in which young New Yorkers are struggling. We all long for a New York in which it will be safe to gather together and cheer on our favorite teams, whether they are professionals or little leaguers, once again.

And, with Ray McGuire guiding us, we know that is exactly the New York we will have.

Politics as usual simply will not cut it in our post-COVID New York. We need an audacious vision that will look beyond the same old tired political solutions and approaches. We need someone new calling plays for the five boroughs. That is why we choose Ray.

With Ray’s vision starting to crystalize, we can see the outline of a plan to return our city to greatness. The McGuire Comeback Plan is an innovative blueprint that will inject new life into New York, make our economy more inclusive, foster small businesses, and create a future our children will be proud of by making the right investments now.

With Ray McGuire in City Hall we will add 500,000 new jobs that will go to every day New Yorkers, creating an environment in which the locally owned bar where you cheer on the Yankees or Mets alongside neighbors new and old can thrive. It means investing in our children, ensuring every middle and high schooler who wants a summer job can get one — and that parents can afford daycare when they’re at work. It means safe, affordable housing for all, especially aging New Yorkers who want to stay in the communities in which they’ve lived for decades. It means access to quality education, exposure to innovative fields, and the resources that facilitate a full educational experience, including extracurricular activities like sports.

But most of all, it means making New York feel like New York again. The pandemic has completely upended our lives, disrupted our routines, and made us question the future. Even in these dark moments sports across the spectrum have been a unifier, whether it is the socially distant gymnastics competitions or gathering with close loved ones to watch your favorite NY team win big. We want a unifier in City Hall who understands this industry, it’s importance to New Yorkers, a person with a plan informed by experience, and the relationships to deliver results.

We want to see New York thrive again — and we know that Ray McGuire is the man to get us back on track. Together, from across the diverse spectrum of sport in New York City, we choose Ray.

Respectfully,

Sports for Ray
